The places of the heart

Rinia

Located just three miles from the very popular Mykonos, the small and almost deserted island of Rain is exactly the opposite. Un-crowded even in high season, this wild jewel made up of clear turquoise water is a peaceful paradise set right at the centre of the Aegean. Rinia has a special appeal for sailors: its peculiar and extremely indented coastline offers several deep bays in all its sides, guaranteeing a shelter with all kinds of wind. According to the legend, Rinia was created by Jupiter to offer Leto a place where she could give birth to the daughter Artemis that later on moved to the neighboring Delos where she gave birth to Apollo.
