The places of the heart

Fourni

Fourni is a very special island: beautiful, pristine, remote, wild and welcoming at the same time. This windswept island is far away from frequented itineraries and the very few tourists who make it here are more than welcome. The island relies more on fishing than on tourism but it features a few well-protected bays.

Rounded hills and low perfumed Mediterranean scrubs alternate and overlap creating a series of bays, fjords and shelters that made it a real heaven for pirates. So much so that the ancient name of the island “Korseon” means in fact “Corsair”.

The only port and village of the island Korseon that can be reached after crossing the very narrow and windy Diaphori channel is welcoming, lively and teeming with activities. The very few leisure boats that find some space among the fishing fleet are always welcome since very few tourists reach these shores. The village develops behind the port and boasts good “tavernas”, bars and a few local shops.

Not to be missed: the peaceful bays on the East coast of Thimaina, Kambì bay, a few miles south of Korseon as well as Vlichada on the Southern coast of Fourni.
